TUNNEL TO A LOST WORLD

The ambitious Marmaray Project seeks to connect two continents via the world’s deepest undersea tunnel - some 60 metres below sea level. This would provide a link between the Asian and European halves of Istanbul. In order to build the tunnel, engineers had to begin construction beneath a busy shipping lane, just 12 miles away from an active fault line. Construction was halted after the discovery of an incredible nautical treasure – an ancient port of Constantinople.
